Jillian Otten - Wednesday, September 20, 2017

On Saturday, September 16th women from all around the region came together to participate in the first annual Women in Skilled Trades (WIST) WOMEN BUILD career exploration day

Six different skilled trades' sessions were available, and participants explored career paths through interactive demonstrations while learning about the various construction crafts from industry professionals.

Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from Adrienne Bennet, the first female graduate from Plumbers Local 98 and MCA Detroit Training Center. The first African-American female Master Plumber in the United States and the first female Plumbing Inspector in the State of Michigan.

WOMEN BUILD career exploration day was a significant event to promote, support and advance women in the construction industry.
