MAGIC Camp 2016 - Learning to be an electrician

- Thursday, June 30, 2016

MAGIC Camp (Mentoring A Girl In Construction Summer) is a unique opportunity to utilize the “tools of the trade” through experiencing construction-related skills. This hands-on, one-week day camp provides high-school girls the satisfying experience of learning the carpentry, electrical, and welding aspects of construction. MAGIC Camp is hosted by Eaton Regional Education Service Agency and Lansing Community College and supported by the National Association of Women in Construction, Lansing NAWIC and other local construction organizations.

On Thursday, July 23rd camp participants had the unique opportunity to experience what it's like to be an electrician for a day.  Lansing Electrical Apprenticeship Training Directors led the class, working with the girls as they practiced wiring, performed electrical work and built a lamp to take home.
